Exelon Generation submits a COL application seeking authorization to build and operate a new dual-unit nuclear generating facility in Victoria County, Texas, using the GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) new generation of reactor technology, should Exelon ultimately decide to build the plant.

Progress Energy Florida, a subsidiary of Progress Energy announced that it submitted a COL application to construct two Westinghouse AP1000tm nuclear reactors in Levy County, Florida.

Southern Nuclear Files for Combined Construction and Operating License on Behalf of Owners of Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant
Southern Nuclear Operating Company filed an application for a COL on behalf of the owners of the Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant near Waynesboro, Ga. Plant Vogtle is owned by Georgia Power, Oglethorpe Power Corporation, the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia and Dalton Utilities. The Plant Vogtle owners selected the Westinghouse AP1000 technology for two additional units at the plant site.

Dominion has passed another milestone in considering a new nuclear unit. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved an early site permit on Nov. 20. The new unit would begin operating in 2015, if Dominion decides to build it.
